Track drug toxicity and side effects

Why certain cancer cells respond to specific chemotherapeutics while others are resistant remains largely unexplained. This is in large part due to genetic polymorphisms. Identifying the gene required for cell sensitivity to a specific treatment is crucial to choosing the right therapies. Using HCS, researchers discovered that when the gene MED12 was switched off, the cells in a variety of cancers became resistant to a range of anti-cancer drugs*. At Genel, we use a new HCS approach that is better-targeted and closer to actual physiological conditions and that greatly improves our capacity to generate meaningful results. We can help you understand a drug molecule's mechanisms of action to head off side effects and pave the way to the development of new treatments. *Source: Nature 491, 641 (29 November 2012)
