The CEA is the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission. It is a government-funded institute established in October 1945 by General de Gaulle. Leti is an institute of the CEA, a French research-and-technology organization with activities in energy, IT, healthcare, defense and security. Leti’s portfolio of 1,880 families of patents helps strengthen the competitiveness of its industrial partners.

The Lyonbiopôle competitiveness cluster is now positioned as the leader and one-stop shop for health in the Rhône-Alpes region.

ParisTech is a collective entity that includes 12 of the most prestigious French institutes of higher education and research. MINES ParisTech is one of the founding members of this research and higher education cluster of excellence, composed of several French Grandes Écoles (executive engineering and business schools). ParisTech covers a broad spectrum of disciplines in sciences, technology and management. The high staff-to-student ratio, the extensive range of scientific disciplines it offers, and the quality research at ParisTech attract the best students and scientists.

The Cancéropôle Lyon Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (CLARA) is an initiative launched and financed by the public authorities (National Cancer Institute, local authorities and the European Regional Development Fund). It is part of the national cancer plans and aims to develop oncology research in the Rhône-Alpes and Auvergne regions.

SATTs (Sociétés d’Accélération du Transfert de Technologies) are companies created by several public research establishments within the framework of the Programme des Investissements d’Avenir (PIA), within the « Valorisation » action, and are intended to bring together all the valorisation teams of university sites. The SATTs, supported by the collective commitment of their shareholder research institutions, have access to the skills and inventions of public researchers on their territory and rely on dedicated professional teams to detect and evaluate these inventions and support them until they are transferred to a company.

Linksium helps to convert the results of public research into concrete applications to meet the needs of businesses and citizens.

GATE1 (Grenoble Alpes Technoly & Entrepreneurship One) is the business incubator for innovative start-ups linked to public research in the eastern part of the Rhone-Alpes region. Its mission is to capitalize on the results of public research by university laboratories and research centers in France’s Alpine Arc. Since 2000, GATE1 has actively supported almost 260 entrepreneurs (of which 30 are currently in the incubator) and some 172 companies had been started as of end-2013
